There’s no way of getting around the fact that something a bit thick has happened here at The Bunker recording studio. The amazing recording package deals that we still have on offer were seeming to attract plenty of visitors to the site, but nobody was making any bookings as a result which was quite puzzling.
The puzzle ended abruptly when we realised that we had made the ultimate marketing gaff – the contact phone number on the site was wrong! It has now been corrected, so don’t hesitate to call Steve on 07853 915666 (yes, it’s right this time) if you would like to book in for a recording session, or use our rehearsal space or just make a general enquiry about the studio.
Sincere apologies to all of you who tried to call us on the duff number.

If you’re looking for a simple audio mastering technique to give your mix an effective lift in Cubase, then you could do a lot worse than the built-in ‘Q’ filter as a good place to start. It’s a non-frightening interface, providing four bands of EQ with a managable array of variables to experiment with.
This screen-grab shows a good generic setting that should provide instant improvement to most typical mixes, but as with all mastering, there are no hard and fast rules so you’ll need to experiment to find the right recipe for any given tune.
Selecting ‘cut’ on the low band allows you to roll off some often unnecessary bass, which may be needlessly taking up headroom below the plausibly audible level. The dips on the mid bands will help get rid of some ‘mud’ in the typically busy ranges, while a little boost on the high band will add a bit of ‘ear tinsel’.
You can read a more in-depth description of this audio mastering article at the SoundOnSound web site, but these are some sensible settings from which to start experimenting with your mix – it’s also worth remembering that no amount of fancy plug-ins are a substitute for using your ears! Take frequent breaks and compare your mastered sound to other tracks you are happy with. Good luck!
